A remarkably prescient quote from the doyenne of American historians, Barbara Tuchman:

“…he possessed that dangerous talent for oratory which can simulate action and even thought.”

This was in reference to war-mongers Albert Beveridge and William Jennings Bryan who militated for the Spanish-American War; but it should be added that a better portrait of Obama, with his hormone-churning but ultimately empty phrases,  was never drawn.
