A high school teacher in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada has been suspended for the unmitigated gall of handing out zeroes for assignments that have not been turned in, even though such a reaction is contrary to school system policy. (h/t Small Dead Animals)
Mr. Dorval has stated that he knew of the policy but has always been against it. In his own words: “I’ve always believed that I had the responsibility to decide the best way to evaluate students. I’ve never agreed with this from the start, and I’ve always questioned the legality of it, whether principals actually had the authority to order me not to give zeros.”
He also expects that his suspension will be followed by a firing.
Oh Canada!
