I just read Claire Berlinski’s blurb about the meaning of America at Ricochet. She quotes a Turkish friend who describes America as a country that “does what the manufacturer says it does on the box.”

This good Turk’s words are brief, to the point and, in their own way, as eloquent as any Dan’l Webster or Abe Lincoln speech.
