…at soccer, and so they’re all jealous of me.” (h/t Týden)

So avers the impeccably metrosexual Portuguese soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo  – about himself, of course.  (We’re not talking about the Brazilian Ronaldo, by the way.)  Ronaldo, who plays for Real Madrid, was roughly handled by Croatian fans during a match against Dinamo Zagreb.  They whistled every time he had the ball and moreover, Dinamo players supposedly singled him out for rough treatment.

Real Madrid won the match 1:0, but that was scant consolation for Ronaldo.  He had especially sharp words for referee Svein Oddvar Moen, expressing the hope that Moen will never “whistle” a Real Madrid game again.

Well, okay.  I suppose that soccer stars are just as vulnerable to narcissism as American politicians.  Still, I hope the putz doesn’t move to the USA and run for President: we’ve had enough narcissism and sef-deification in our current Chief Executioner – and serious damage to the country to show for it – to last us several lifetimes.
