POLITICAL CORRECTNESS, PANSLAVIC STYLE

What a difference a single letter makes…

The Czech news site Tyden reports that a Serbian TV journalist was fired, and all his colleagues suspended, for a misspelling a TV subtitle.  Instead of writing “friendly” Russian-Serbian relations, he wrote “unfriendly.”  The mistyped subtitle appeared on TV screens in Vojvodina just as Putin and the Serbian President Tadić were on-screen, extolling the historically close friendship between Russia and Serbia.

RTV director Blažo Popović explained that the punishment fit the crime.  He said that he could see one letter misspelled, but two?  That was clearly an attack on the RTV station and an attempt to undermine the historically cordial relations between Serbia and Russia.

Imagine what would have happened to “Hilarious” Clinton if she’d been an employee of RTV and showed up on-screen with her mislabeled Reset button.  A “tenner” in the Gulag, at least, I’m thinking.
