NEVER LETTING A GOOD CRISIS GO TO WASTE

The Obama regime is well known by now for exploiting crises to advance its socialist reactionary agenda.  Given that, it shouldn’t surprise anyone if Obama operatives actually sought to worsen crises to drive home their point.

Consider the possibility that the oil spill generated by the April 20, 2010 Deepwater Horizon explosion could have been stopped much earlier than July 2010.  Per Bruce Thompson at American Thinker, the final report submitted on January 11, 2011 to The National Commission on the BP Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill and Offshore Drilling suggests it could have been done as early as May 26-28, 2010.  What got in the way was not a technical difficulty but an administrative one: Dr. Steven Chu, the top Obama energy apparatchik, stopped BP from trying.  Even the normally silly New York Times criticized Dr. Chu for this, citing his interference despite his lack of training in geology, seismology or oil well drilling.  And so it was that the devastated well continued to spew oil into the Gulf of Mexico for 48 days more.

The Department of Energy website describes Dr. Chu’s mission as follows:

As United States Secretary of Energy, Dr. Steven Chu is charged with helping implement President Obama’s ambitious agenda to invest in clean energy, reduce our dependence on foreign oil, address the global climate crisis, and create millions of new jobs.

What better way to “raise raze the consciousness” of the American people on these issues than by making an emergent crisis last as long as possible?

Remember, this is the same Dr. Chu who believes that “climate change is an international problem,” and stated in 2009 that “we need to get to a sustainable energy world.”  He also harangued youth to tell their parents: “If you care about me, don’t give me a world that will heat up by four-to-five degrees.” He has actively promoted doomsday scenarios on the basis of inadequate/disproved science and computer models that have been repeatedly been shown to be unreliable and/or rigged.

Given that kind of ideological commitment, I would not be surprised if Dr. Chu had manipulated the situation to his (i.e. Obama’s) own advantage.  This is not an accusation since I don’t have all the facts, but it seems a likely scenario.
